Welcome to Our Farmstead
Where we share what we learn
Where we share what we learn
My name is Cary and I decided about a year ago to become a Goat Owner of two beautiful Nannies Loretta Lynn and Aretha Franklin
and from there I realized that the best way to care for these God Given Creatures was the same way I care for myself with the tools that God has given us. As naturally and holistically as possible.

We will share what we learn on these adventures along the way.
We believe in always learning something new and working hard. We believe that God has placed us here as stewards of this land and livestock. We believe that healthy animals live in wide open spaces with lots of sunshine, and don’t need extra chemicals or antibiotics to thrive.
Goats and other animals, whether livestock or family pets, can thrive with holistic care.
Man-made medicines and vaccines, while convenient, are not required for every day use.
During our first year with a goat herd, we’ve used natural products for all aspects of goat health except for the small amount of grain we feed morning and evening

I will be looking into our own feed mixtures soon. I have dappled in a few but I am not quite ready to share. I personally don't have anything against commercially made feed, I just have never had a great feeling about feeding it.
Allowing your goats to graze from sunup to sundown allows them to eat a more natural diets. If you’re keeping them in a pen all day, you’ are forcing them to eat whatever type of feed or hay you are willing to provide them.
This may contain nutrients they need but it is also mixed with chemicals, additives and preservatives they don’t

Just like in humans this weakens their guts natural defenses which in turn weakens their immune system.
It’s is very important to provide them free choice minerals. I decided to supply an organic free choice mineral buffet. More on this later..
Apparently Goats are smart and they will eat the minerals they are lacking from their diet. This may change from season to season. This allows your farm animals to thrive on a cellular level.
Land improvement will occur naturally when you allow your livestock to graze in a managed way, especially with goats. Goats love to eat and they do this all day long. They will naturally fertilize the soil, feeding the ground so that native plants can thrive. When you have goats out on pasture, climbing shrubs and trees they will be happy & healthy goats.
